This was a powerful and educated read. There was a lot I didn't even think of. After reading this and sitting on it for awhile, a smile came to my face.
It is not wrong for aubmissives to consider their needs and wants.
As a submissive i need to be able to listen, to trust, to understand, to let go, to surrender. i need to be honest, trustworthy, willing to follow where my Dominant takes me. i need to strive to fulfill Her expectations. i need be worthy of Her time and attention.
Of course i also need to understand safety, consent, and responsibility. Here i need to see eye to eye with my Dominant.
If i replace the word "need" with "want" in the statements above, then i am an aspiring submissive. Wanting all these things is a necessary but not a sufficient condition for being submissive.
Only the Dominant can decide whether She wants to accept an aspiring submissive and take him on the journey of becoming a true submissive to Her.
Amadeus, you are missing My point. The needs you are sharing are your personal needs that you should fulfill yourself. Everyone has needs. I’m talking about when a man is using the term needs but meaning wants. That underneath the question is what about my desires. How he wishes to be dominated.
Perhaps i am wrong, but there is a misunderstanding between what i was trying to say and what You heard me say.
Bringing up the difference between needs and wants prompted me to reflect on the attitude it takes to be submissive in general. i softened it by saying 'as a submissive i need' instead of 'a submissive needs'. A personal statement is more humble and relatable than a universal statement.
There is a difference in intent and purpose between 'i need to do my best' and 'i want to do my best'.
Is this off topic? Does it distract from the message You intend to convey in Your article? If so, then i apologize.
